Trauma Therapy

Trauma is a general term, which can encompass a lot of upsetting, and traumatic situations, that are distressing and disturbing. Trauma can come from one specific even or be an accumulation of smaller distressing and traumatic instances.  


Anyone at any stage of life can suffer from the effects of trauma. Trauma can be present immediately after a traumatic event or can surface years later, cause much distress in your life.

Trauma can be caused from a wide range of situations from an illness or injury, a loss of a love one to instances of physical and sexual abuse, rape and torture.

Everyone process trauma differently and because we are all individual and each situation can affect us in different ways. Trauma should not just be judged on the situation but also how we relate to it.

Within trauma there are so different terminologies use.

Complex Trauma

Often is when a trauma happens repetitively and is a experience frequently. Often from with a specific relationship, over time. The trauma is often inflicted as direct harm onto the individual.  

PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

PTSD often can occur when someone is exposed to a particularly harrowing or terrifying incident. In which intense physical harm was threatened or inflicted on an individual. This type of trauma can often result in flashback and continued frightening feelings and memories of the event.

Symptoms of Trauma can be

  • Continued feelings of sadness
  • Overwhelming and unmanageable emotions
  • Isolation and loneliness
  • Hopeless feelings
  • Depression
  • Flashbacks
  • Anger
  • Guilt
  • Shame
